Things to Do

Provence is one of our favourite places to explore - a region where every village, vineyard and winding road feels different from the last. Below are a few experiences we love and hope you might enjoy during your stay.

Les Baux-de-Provence

A short drive from the chateau, this dramatic hilltop village is one of the most striking in the Alpilles. Arrive early to wander the quiet stone lanes, take in the panoramic views over the valley, and stop into the small boutiques and cafes tucked between the old ramparts.

Saint-Remy-de-Provence

A town that perfectly captures the charm of Provence - morning markets, shaded squares, bakeries, galleries and little streets lined with limestone buildings. If you have time, the nearby Roman ruins of Glanum offer a peaceful and unexpectedly beautiful walk through ancient history.

Luberon Villages

For those wishing to explore further, the Luberon is one of the most rewarding regions to drive through. Gordes, Roussillon and Menerbes each have their own character: hilltop views, ochre cliffs, vineyard surrounds and quiet cafes. It's an easy loop and makes for a memorable day trip.

Arles

A completely different side of Provence - Roman architecture, contemporary galleries, and excellent restaurants. The old town is especially lovely in the late afternoon, and the riverside is perfect for a relaxed stroll before dinner.

Dining in the Alpilles

The Alpilles region is known for its exceptional food, whether you're after a long, indulgent lunch or something simple and classic. From the refined dining rooms of Les Baux to the bistros in Saint-Remy and Maussane-les-Alpilles, there's no shortage of places that showcase the best of Provence. If you're visiting in June, we recommend booking ahead.

Lavender Season

Depending on timing and the season, early lavender bloom may begin around the end of June. If you're exploring the Luberon, the fields near Gordes and Senanque Abbey are some of the most photogenic - even the drive itself is beautiful.
